M. K. Kelkar was born on 27th October 1916. He has studied under guidance of S. L. Haldankar for five years and completed course in painting from Sir. J. J. School of Art, Mumbai.

He has done several solo shows from 1961 to 2005 in India and Baharain, U. K. and Russia. He has participated in one group show in 1992 which was at Hampton Art Gallery. He is honoured as his name was selected as a subject for thesis given to a Student of Vikram Mahavidyalaya, Ujjain for Ph. D. in Fine Arts.

He has visited entire India and Major countries in Abroad.
