During his stint of 31 years with Films Division of India, Prem Vaidya captured several rare and historic moments of post independence India. These include photographs of General AAK Niazi signing the instrument of surrender at Dhaka with Lt. Gen Jagjit Singn Aurora and Maj Gen JFR Jacob, last living photograph of Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, JRD Tata piloting his aircraft, JRD Tata working on a lathe machine at home, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Edmund Hillary with Jayprakash Narayan, Mukti Bahini freedom fighters, M Visvesvaraya, Shabeg Singh, Indira Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru and many more..
