M F Husain

M. F. Husain was born in 1915 in Sulemani Bohra Community in Pandharpur. At Sidhpur, Gujarat he learnt to read & writes Urdu. The geometric forms of KUFIC calligraphy attracted him and that was the source of angularity in his figures and forms. During his stay at Madras and Baroda, he came to know the Mohram procession. The forms of Panja and form of Mare (Ghodi) as a symbol of Mohammed and men with mask of tigers with yellow strips painted on their body, which are symbol of Ali, the son of Mohammed. At Indore he got the gold medal in annual show which proved to be inspiration in late life.
