Born and brought up in Maharashtra, Ajay has taken part in many exhibitions and has steadily evolved a style of his own. His paintings are touched by an inner luminosity, awash with a subtle touch of mystery. In his smaller 6 x 6 inches works, the tonal qualities and abstract stylized forms of his “Creative Still Life Series”, provide a delightful sense of spontaneity, a feel for expressing form and abstraction with sensitive creativity.
Ajay has an innate feel for handling different textures and mediums. His series on the “Guard lamp”, show his deep sensitivity and understanding, using the feel and texture of the lamp to express feelings of hope, sadness, present and past, the background of war and sometimes a journey to the depths of the ocean. Ajay Deshpande’s present works are a stepping-stone from which he will continue to explore unknown terrains with creative freedom.
