The, saree, its length & width and draping style, traditionally, carried a strong identity of the community and the wearer. Each sari draping style had a direct relationship to the texture & construction of the weaving, and design in terms of colour and surface had a relationship to the aesthetic, community of the wearer and at times the culture. A sari draping workshop of coastal Andhra's draping styles would be demonstrated to understand the sari.
Latha Tummuru will conduct this demo. Latha is a design graduate from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and has been working with Dastkar Andhra for the last 18 years where she has designed handloom products working closely with weavers in Andhra and Telengana.
