Hand spinning (cotton yarn spinning on charkha by hand) demonstration was presented on Gandhi Jayanti, 2nd October 2016 at Indiaart Galley, Pune. This was organised jointly by Dastakar Andhra and Indiaart Gallery.
Dastkar Andhra is a 25 year old organisation which works on policy, research and advocacy aspects of the cotton handloom industry in the country. It works actively with handloom co-operatives in Andhra and Telangana on promotion and marketing of cotton handloom products. These hand woven products are woven by weavers who are members of handloom co-operatives.
